PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately grasp the actual tilted and deflected states of a ditch excavating body which has a simple and inexpensive constitution, and which is driven at a predetermined incident angle with respect to the ground. SOLUTION: When the ditch excavating body 14 is transferred in the state of being obliquely driven at the incident angleθwith respect to the ground 3, so as to excavate a continuous ditch 6, a pendulum-type underground tiltmeter is provided at least in the lower part of the frame 16 of the ditch excavating body 14, so as to measure the tilt angle of the ditch excavating body 14. The underground tiltmeter is fixed to the frame in an attitude in which it is tilted with respect to the frame 16 by an angle equivalent to the incident angleθ, so that a swing angle of a pendulum can fall within a predetermined measured angle range without reference to the incident angleθin the driven state of the ditch excavating body.
