PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the weight and the size of a header tank having high pressure resistance in a tube and fin type heat exchanger, to reduce a range where an end of a tube is deformed during insertion of the tube into a tube insertion hole of the header tank at the time of assembly, and to reduce insertion force of the tube. SOLUTION: The header tank 6 is constituted by an inner plate member 20 on a core side, an outer plate member 21 on an opposite side from the core, and an intermediate plate member 22. The inner plate member 20 is equipped with tube insertion holes 24 and 25, and expansion parts 26 and 27 expanded so as to position an air flow direction intermediate part of peripheral edges of the tube insertion holes 24 and 25 to the longitudinal direction inner side of the tube 2 more than the both ends. Expansion parts 38 and 39 expanded to the outside of the header tank 6 are provided on the outer plate member 21.
