PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a controller for a vehicle capable of learning and correcting an appropriate target inter-vehicle relation value which is appropriate to a driver. SOLUTION: The controller for the vehicle for setting the target inter-vehicle relation value between an own vehicle and a vehicle ahead of it and controlling the own vehicle based on the setting value, includes a face direction sensor 12 for determining whether the driver views a front or not. The controller for the vehicle corrects the setting value of the target inter-vehicle relation value based on a learning result, concerning an actual inter-vehicle relation value when a brake switch 15 is turned on (when the driver performs a braking operation) while it is determined that the driver views the front.
