PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dredging method capable of efficiently performing dredging by efficiently collecting sand in sand pockets immediately below a dredging pump. SOLUTION: In this dredging method 1, a shield 5 is installed offshore apart a prescribed distance from a coast 6 or at a position at a prescribed distance from a structure 3 constructed at the coast 6, a sedimentation part 8 is formed in a shielding area 7 between the shield 5 and the coast 6 or the structure 3 by coastal drift sand, and the sand is sucked and discharged to the other position by a dredger installed on the sedimentation part 8.
