PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet feeder capable of securely separating sheets with strong adhesiveness by increasing the flow rate of air by a simple structure without increasing the size of an air blowing means and also capable of preventing double feed and defective sheet feed from occurring in the sheet feeder using an air assist system. SOLUTION: This sheet feeder comprises a paper feed stand on which sheets are stackingly placed, a paper feed means feeding sheets one by one from the uppermost part thereof, the air blowing means for blowing air to the stacked end face of the sheets put on the paper feed stand, and an air blowing control means temporarily increasing the flow rate of air blown from the air blowing means.
