<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recognition system and an imaging unit capable of controlling the operation of a unit in a vehicle cabin so as to secure the safety of a crew by enhancing the detection accuracy of a position, a physical constitution, a posture, etc. of the crew in the vehicle cabin. <P>SOLUTION: The system includes an image processing unit for performing image recognition processing by acquiring image data imaged by an imaging unit imaging the inside of the vehicle cabin, and for generating image data output based on the processing result. The imaging unit includes a plurality of objective lenses, an optical mechanism for changing the light direction incident on the plurality of objective lenses, and a single imaging device for generating the image data by receiving the light of which the direction is changed by the optical mechanism. An area corresponding to the crew is recognized from the image data generated by the imaging device, and the recognized crew position is calculated.
