<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of deleting an electronic document on a network using a document storage policy. <P>SOLUTION: The document storage policy defines at least one deletion reference for the document belonging to each of a plurality of document classifications. A document storage policy manager transmits a document storage policy data to at least one network element via a communication network, or judges the propriety of executing a storage policy audit. When judged to be executed, a signal is transmitted to to the at least one network element to execute the storage policy audit, the network element deletes the electronic document according to the document storage policy.
