PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a maintenance system capable of monitoring the state of a network of a client and changing the setting data of communication equipment of the client without visiting a job site, and to provide a maintenance method. SOLUTION: This maintenance system is provided with a plurality of pieces of communication equipment 101 to 105 configuring the network of the client and a maintenance company which performs maintenance of the pieces of communication equipment. The maintenance company is provided with a database 3 in which the setting data or communication states of the pieces of communication equipment are stored and a task executing means 401 for monitoring the setting data or communication state of the database 301, and for, at the time of detecting any problem to be caused in a network, notifying the manager of the network that the setting data of the pieces of communication equipment have to be changed to new setting data for solving the problem, or for changing the setting data of the pieces of communication equipment to the new setting data through the network.
