PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display apparatus and its driving method with which generation of bright persistence of vision is reduced by improving the sustain pulse in a sustain period and driving efficiency is enhanced. SOLUTION: The plasma display apparatus comprises a plasma display panel comprising a scan electrode and a sustain electrode, a driver for driving the scan electrode and the sustain electrode and a sustain pulse controller for controlling the driver so that a sustain pulse applied to the scan electrode and a sustain pulse applied to the sustain electrode are overlapped with each other, and for setting a sum Ws of a rising (ER-Up) period of the sustain pulse applied to the scan electrode and a Y sustain period where the sustain pulse is maintained at a sustain voltage (Vs) is to be different from a sum Wc of a rising (ER-Up) period of the sustain pulse applied to the sustain electrode and a Z sustain period where the sustain pulse is maintained at the sustain voltage (Vs).
