PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information retrieval device and an information retrieval method capable of retrieving proper information in a short time, without retrieving the whole of stored information. SOLUTION: Coordinates are specified using a neuron arranged with a representative music as a representative neuron in a musical composition map, by retrieving a musical composition database based on the selected representative music, and musical composition data arranged in the neuron are retrieved sequentially from the representative neuron toward an outside, until the retrieved musical composition number comes to a predetermined retrieval number or more, by referring to a retrieval table.
