PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such a problem that a carriage malfunctions because the filtration of a noise signal which occurs resulting from a physical hazard or an electric wave interference and the correction by a simple constitution cannot be performed. SOLUTION: A lower limit value RTHmin of a high-level signal switch RTH and a lower limit value RTLmin of a low-level signal width RTL which are set in advance, and the high-level signal width RTH and the low-level signal width RTL of a detected encoder reading signal are compared, and whether "RTH≥RTHmin and also RTL≥RTLmin" are satisfied or not is judged. An upper limit value RTHmax of the high-level signal width RTH and an upper limit value RTLmax of the low-level signal width RTL which are set in advance, and the high-level signal width RTH and the low-level signal width RTL of the detected encoder reading signal are compared, and whether "RTH≤RTHmax and also RTL≥RTLmax" are satisfied or not is determined, and thus, whether the encoder reading signal is normal or not is determined.
