PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithium secondary battery improved in both safety such as high short circuit resistance and high capacity, while providing excellent productivity.

SOLUTION: The lithium secondary battery includes an electrode group obtained by winding a positive electrode 8 whose current collector 1 is partially exposed, a negative electrode 9 whose current collector 5 is partially exposed, and an insulating layer 3. A heat-resistant layer 7 including a filler and a binder is formed on the negative electrode, and an insulating tape 4 is attached onto at least a part of the exposed portion of the positive electrode current collector opposite to the end of the negative electrode active material layer.
