PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water-cooling treatment for steelmaking slag with which granular high temperature slag can uniformly be cooled at high speed. SOLUTION: A header tube 1 provided with the plurality of straight nozzles 2 and full-conical nozzles 3, is arranged at one corner in a yard for stably putting the high temperature slag in 0.5-3 m depth. The straight nozzle 2 is the one, by which the high temperature slag at the far position from the straight nozzle 2 is cooled with the straight bar flowing having strong injecting force, and is provided with a ball joint for finely adjusting the direction. Further, the full-conical nozzle 3 is the one, by which the high temperature slag near the full-conical nozzle 3 is cooled by injecting the water as the circular state. The water having 0.3-1.0 m<SP>3</SP>/m<SP>2</SP>×hr is injected onto the whole surface of the high temperature slag in the yard and cooled by using such nozzles as the straight nozzle 2 and the full-conical nozzle 3.
