PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a U-shaped groove-cutting apparatus capable of easily cutting a U-shaped groove only by replacing a cutting blade even in a case different in size. SOLUTION: A cutting machine body 6 is provided on the stand 5 capable of traveling on the rail 3 housed in the U-shaped groove 2. The cutting machine body 6 has a cutting control mechanism 69 for rotationally driving the cutting blade 61 and a notching drive device 7, and the cutting control mechanism 69 is equipped with the rotational speed measuring means 691 of a cutting blade driving electromotor 62, a slip frequency operator 692, a frequency operator 694 and a voltage operator 695 to which a value becoming constant in the number of gap magnetic fluxes is preliminarily inputted and further provided with a frequency setting device 696 capable of corresponding to the size of the cutting blade 61 and an adder 697 for adding the slip frequency of the slip frequency operator 692 and the rotational speed of the electromotor 62. The outputs of the adder 697 and the frequency setting device 696 are inputted to the frequency operator 694 and the voltage operator 695 and the outputs from the frequency operator 694 and the voltage operator 695 are used as an instruction value to drive the induction electromotor 62 by an inverter 693.
