PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a forming method of a cup-shaped member by which a thick bearing face is formed on the inner periphery while reducing the cost of equipment and manufacturing cost. SOLUTION: The method comprises a first stage where the cup-shaped intermediate base stock 32 the thickness of which is made approximately constant by pressing a metal plate 38 with a first punch 42 and a second stage where an annular bearing face 34 is formed on the inner periphery as a plane crossed orthogonally to the axial direction while swelling the inner periphery inward in the radial direction. In the second stage, when forming the bearing face by promoting plastic flow inward in the radial direction from the inner periphery of the intermediate base stock by ironing the outer periphery of the intermediate base stock, the plastic flow to the open side of the intermediate base stock and the bottom part side of the intermediate base stock is controlled.
