PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for compacting powder, which method can improve the productivity by simplifying a process when a plurality of powders are compacted by being pressed, and further which method is suitable for compacting one layer by a plurality of powders in a powder compact composed of a plurality of powder layers formed in the upward and downward directions. SOLUTION: When the first powder M1 is supplied, at least one lower punch of an outside lower punch 3 and an inside lower punch 5 descends down to a halfway position, and the first powder M1 is supplied into an upper space. After that, the lower punch descends down to the descending terminal, and the second powder M2 is supplied on the first powder M1. During this period, other lower punches descend down to the descending terminal, and the first powder M1 or the second powder M2 is supplied on the upper space above them. During the period in which at least the second powder M2 has been supplied, a partition punch 4 is kept such that the upper surface of the partition punch 4 is approximately flush with the upper surface of a die 2.
