<p>The device has a sensor for detecting a driving dynamic parameter such as speed, cross acceleration or longitudinal acceleration. A drive lane identifying system detects an appropriate drive lane (2). A calculating unit determines a maximal steering angle from the driving dynamic parameter and the detected drive lane. The drive lane identifying system comprises a sensor for identifying a free drive lane. An independent claim is also included for a method of preventing an accident of a vehicle.</p>
