PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To continuously generate electricity by taking in outside air from the outside of a generator room and supplying it to a generator even when the inside of the generator room is filled with carbon dioxide. SOLUTION: In a power generating unit 1, the power generating apparatus 11 with the generator 3, an engine 4, a radiator 5, a fan 6 and so on contained in an enclosure 2 is arranged in the generator room 12, and a fire detection sensor 13 is arranged in the generator room 12. When the fire detection sensor 13 detects fire, carbon dioxide is ejected from two or more nozzles 14 of a carbon dioxide injection device into the generator room 12, and the fire is immediately extinguished. An intake duct 21 is connected to the intake part 4a of the engine 4. The intake duct 21 penetrates through the circumferential wall 2a of the enclosure 2 and the ceiling 12a of the generator room 12, and an intake port 21a at the end of the intake duct 21 is arranged to the outside of the generator room 12.
