The mowing or cutting device has a cutting or striking means (10) which is assigned at least opposite to the farther operating outwardly projecting and rotating deflector (12). The deflector has a softer surface at its radially outer region, which is opposite to the cutting or striking means, and is provided with obtuse edge areas.
