<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protective method for an electric motor provided with an electric brake, capable of reducing risk of overheating of the electric motor. <P>SOLUTION: This method is for protecting from overheating a brake system for a vehicle provided with at least one brake provided with at least one electromechanical actuator which is provided with a pressing element to selectively add force to a friction element of the brake to actuate when demanded by an operator of the vehicle in a control mode to selectively apply brake force to the friction element as the pressing element is actuated by the electric motor in response to a brake command 101, or in a parking mode to lock the pressing element at such a position to add parking force to the friction element as no driving force comes from the motor. It includes a step of automatically changing the control mode into the parking mode without intervention of the operator while the vehicle is static, while the brake system is in the control mode, and while the pressing element is controlled to add force to the friction element. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
