Instrument has tool and drive with drive chamber containing piston and trigger piece for drive. A closing body (22) is movably located in a valve chamber (9) which opens and closes the end of the pressure gas conduit (8). The closing body can be slid using a movable switching piece (34), operated using a trigger element (50), in its start position into a closed position and in its finishing position into an open position. The closing body shuts off the mouth (11) of the gas conduit in a closed position and is slid back from the mouth into an open position.
