PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymer and its composition having a special character of a fluorine-containing polymer and being able to produce a paint, that can be suitably used for forming a coat for improving the surfaces of plastic materials, metals, fibers, woods, etc. by giving these surfaces weather resistance, acid resistance, solvent resistance, heat resistance, etc. and also the coat has an adhesiveness for sustaining the effects over a long period of time, that can also be used for a sealing material feasible to surely fix at a surface of a base material and having an excellent water-tightness and air-tightness, and that is curable by an easy method and is excellent in workability, and to provide a method for preparing a coat using the same. SOLUTION: The polymer has an acryloyloxy group, a fluoroalkyl group and/or a fluoroalkylene group and whose weight average molecular weight is at least 1,000 and not more than 50,000, whose fluorine atom content is at least 1.0×10<SP>-2</SP>mol/g and not more than 2.2×10<SP>-2</SP>mol/g.
