A damage protection system for a cabriolet roof, e.g. to prevent damage when opening and closing the roof in a height restricted area, has sensors fitted to appropriate edges of the roof and on the upper edges of any folding cover panels. The sensors can be proximity- or contact types. The protection system can initiate a reversing drive. Contact sensors can be selected to stop the roof drive in a set amount of travel corresponding to any elastic take up in the design. The sensors can also be electronic, e.g. by monitoring the current level of the drive motors. |
