PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a configuration of a program-recording and reproducing apparatus providing high convenience and including a cache recording and reproducing function for reserving and recording a plurality of programs to a circulation-type recording area with a prescribed recording capacity. SOLUTION: The program recording and reproducing apparatus 40, having a cache recording and reproducing function for recording the time series signal of a prescribed amount by video recording reservation to a circulation buffer and reproducing the signal is realized, such that an electronic program guide acquisition means 56 acquires electronic program guide information, an identification electronic program guide generating means 76 generates an identification electronic program guide, formed by applying an identification mark to the program names, whose video-recording is reserved in programs on the electronic program guide, signal recording 50, 60 records the programs attached with the identification mark to the circulation buffer, and signal reproduction means 60, 70 reproduce the programs.
