PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a hold/release mechanism capable of reducing a large release shock generated by suddenly removing a holding load in a short time in a holding release operation. SOLUTION: The release mechanism is equipped with an engaging holding part which holds a holding rod supporting an axial load and releases the holding of the rod when the holding rod moves to the direction of the load, a ball screw shaft holding the axial load transmitted to the engaging holding part, and a ball screw nut which is fitted on the ball screw shaft and converts the axial load transmitted to the ball screw shaft to the force in the rotational direction. When the ball screw nut is rotated, the engaging holding part is separated by the movement of the ball screw shaft in the direction of the load to release the rod. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
