NEGATIVE ELECTRODE FOR LITHIUM ION SECONDARY BATTERY, ITS MANUFACTURING METHOD, AND LITHIUM ION SECONDARY BATTERY USING IT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a negative electrode for a lithium secondary battery having a high capacity, excellent high rate charge and discharge characteristics, and excellent cycle characteristics, and a lithium secondary battery using the negative electrode.

SOLUTION: This negative electrode for the lithium ion secondary battery includes a collector 2 and an active material layer 1 carried on the collector. The active material layer includes a first layer 1a and a second layer 1b alternately laminated in their thickness direction, the first layer contains silicon and a small amount of oxygen, and the second layer contains silicon and an amount of oxygen larger than that in the first layer. This lithium ion secondary battery uses the negative electrode.
