<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent display quality around the holding and fixing part of a light guide plate from being deteriorated while intending to structurally hold the light guide plate, in an edge light type backlight. <P>SOLUTION: In this edge light type backlight in which a linear light source 3 is provided very close to the side on the thickness side of the wedge type light guide plate 2 of a translucent material, and light source light entering from a light entering face is emitted from one wide surface while propagating toward the thin opposite side from the light entering side in its inside, projecting parts 2a having such shapes as a claw shape, a curved line edge shape, and a double claw shape, are provided on the side opposite to the light entering side on both sides of the light guide plate 2 parallel to the light entering direction to hold and fix the light guide plate. This projecting part 2a is fitted into a hollow part 1a provided on the inside surface of a panel chassis 1, and the light guide plate 2 is held and fixed in three axial directions of ±X direction, ±Y direction, and ±Z direction. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
