<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical compensation sheet obtained by combining a cellulose acylate film having reduced optical anisotropy (Re, Rth) and substantially having optical anisotropy and having reduced wavelength dispersion of the optical anisotropy (Re, Rth) with a discotic liquid crystal, and to provide a polarizing plate and a liquid crystal display device using the same. <P>SOLUTION: The optical compensation sheet has an orientation film on a transparent support (A) and an optically anisotropic layer comprising a liquid crystal compound fixed to hybrid orientation, and in the optical compensation sheet, the inclined angle of the liquid crystal compound in the air boundary side of the optically anisotropic layer is narrower than the inclined angle of the liquid crystal compound in the orientation film side.
