PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase working efficiency by easily excavating the ground without damaging buried articles. SOLUTION: This excavating device comprises a non-contact excavating means 1 and a suction carrying means 2. The non-contact excavating means 1 collapses the ground G in a non-contact state by jet, and jets ultrasonic air from a jetting part 1Ac to the ground G. The suction carrying means 2 carries sediment excavated by the non-contact excavating means 1 by air sucking. Thus, in such an excavation or trial excavation of the ground G where cables (communication line and power lines) and gas tubes are expected to be buried, since the ground G is collapsed in a non-contact state by jet from the non-contact excavating means 1, the ground can be easily excavated without damaging the buried articles. Also, excavating efficiency at the ground G where underground obstacles such as pine piles are buried can be increased. In addition, since the excavated sediment is sucked and pressure-fed by a sucking and carrying means 2, the excavating efficiency under restricted conditions around the obstacles can be increased.
