The method involves detecting vibrations in a power train by analyzing the signals output by speed sensors and/or torque sensors arranged in the power train. A vibration canceling control unit is activated for adjusting a torque, which pulsates with a definite frequency, with respect to the vibrations of the power train. The vibrations occur during e.g. change of load, or while driving a motor vehicle with low load conditions.
