TRANSPARENT GEL AND CONTACT LENS COMPRISING THE SAME

Disclosed is a transparent gel comprising a copolymer having a polysiloxane backbone and a polycarbonate backbone and a hydrophilic polymer produced by polymerizing a hydrophilic monomer, the gel having an internetwork structure formed from the copolymer and the hydrophilic polymer. More specifically, the transparent gel is a silicone-containing resin which is easy to synthesize and purify and has excellent properties including gel strength, transparency, oxygen permeability and index of refraction. The transparent gel can be used as a culture substrate for a cell or organ, in a container used for storage purpose, or as a material for ophthalmic use.
