PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent damage to data when data in the nonvolatile memory of a process cartridge are rewritten.
SOLUTION: A nonvolatile memory 22 is divided into a fixed data area 23, variable data areas 0 and 1, and a status area 25 and managed. When rewriting is necessary, the flag of the status area 25 is read and discriminated to discriminate whether the variable data area 0 or 1 is an area where the latest data are properly stored. When the latest data are properly stored in the area 0 as the result of the discrimination, data to be altered are written in the area 1. When the latest data are stored in the area 1, data to be altered are written in the area 0. After writing is properly finished, the flag indicating that the latest data are properly stored in the area 1 when processed in the area 0 or in the area 0 when processed in the area 1 is put in a status area 25.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
