<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of eliminating the necessity for carrying out wasteful operations such as retry of a job on images that can be allowed by a user and a controlling method for the apparatus and also a program for implementing the method. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 1000 comprises a line sensor 500 for detecting an image abnormality such as skewing of a sheet 30 or density trouble of an image formed, a controller 100 for calculating what page number of what copy number of the job of the sheet is of which the image abnormality has been detected based on the number of times the leading edge of a sheet is detected by an image sensor 500 and an operating section 200 for displaying an image abnormality notification screen. The image forming apparatus 1000 executes an image abnormality detection on a sheet having an image formed on it, and the user is notified of the information that indicates what page number of what copy number is a sheet of which the image abnormality has been detected along with the contents of the image abnormality.
