PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an alcohol compound represented by formula (2) [R<SP>1</SP>is H or an alkyl; (n) is 1 or 2] from a compound represented by formula (1) (R<SP>2</SP>and R<SP>3</SP>are each identically or differently H or the like).
