PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shaping method of a grinding wheel capable of attempting improvement of preparatory workability and stable work and preventing abnormal abrasion of a cup grindstone. SOLUTION: Two kinds of curvatures are transferred to a working surface of the grinding wheel by fitting two mating plates of a mating plate 4 having a small curvature against a curvature of a working lens and a mating plate having a large curvature against it and the the grinding wheel 1 on each other under this shaping method of the cylindrical grinding wheel to be used for rough grinding work of an optical element such as a lens, etc. The working surface of the grinding wheel is constituted of two straight lines by oscillating a cylindrical general grindstone rotating from two directions by making it contact with the grinding wheel mounted on a processor and rotating under the shaping method of the grinding wheel. Additionally, the working surface of the grinding wheel is constituted of two straight lines by making the general grindstone contact with the grinding wheel mounted on the processor and rotating from the two directions under the shaping method of the grinding wheel.
