Methods for the treatment of diseases associated with aberrant cell survival, aberrant cell proliferation, abnormal cell migration, abnormal angiogenesis, abnormal estrogen/androgen balance, dysfunctional or abnormal steroid genesis, degeneration including degenerative changes within blood vessel walls, inflammation, or immunological imbalances utilising isoflav-3-ene and isoflavan compounds of the general formula (II) are described. Compositions and uses involving isoflav-3-ene and isoflavan compounds are also described.
