[Also in Division H1] In a headlamp for vehicles having a planet 4 extending along the axis of the lamp which axis is substantially parallel to the axes of the headlamp beam and two further filaments 11, 12, arranged at right angles to and one at each end of the first filament, the current supply members 6, 13 for the two transverse filaments being arranged one on each side of the axial filament, the reflector consists of an upper parabolic part 1 and a lower parabolic part 2 closed by a cover glass 3, the focus of the upper part 1 lies near to the pole of the reflector than the focus of the lower part 2. The contacting edge 58 of the upper and lower parts of the reflector may be non-reflecting. The filaments may be enclosed in a small envelope within the headlamp in which case the surrounding space need not be evacuated and gas-filled.</p> |
