The driving device for cross-winding devices (1) of textile machines, especially spinning machines, has at least one drive component (9) such as a drive belt or drive shaft connected to the cross-winding device via a movement converter (14,15,17,18) which converts a uni-directional movement of the drive component into an at least bi-directional movement and transmits this to the cross-winding device. At least two cross-winding devices are connected to one drive component. An independent claim is included for a method for the driving of cross-winding devices for textile machines, especially spinning machines, by application of the aforesaid driving device.
