[Also in Division H2] The tubular bus-bar 1 shown is provided with helical slots near one end to allow longitudinal expansion. The ends of the slots are opened into holes 4 to further increase the extensibility of the busbars. An insulating sleeve is stuck to the exterior of the bus-bar except near the helical slots. A flexible connection bridging the helical slots may be provided to increase the current carrying capacity of the bar. In multiphase arrangements, the bars are mounted between connection points and are supported against transverse electro-magnetic forces in insulating sheets. The sheets are located as far as possible from the unslotted part of the bars. |
