<p>A boroscope (10) having a flexible fiber optic bundle (30) communicating from inside to outside a housing (12). The bundle (30) has a proximal end inside the housing viewable by viewing optics (26) and illuminable by a light source (16) in the housing. The fiber optic bundle (30) extends to a distal end (52) thereof outside the housing. An external sheath (54) is placeable over the fiber optic bundle and is attachable to a fixture (42) on the housing. The sheath in a preferred form is a tightly coiled wire (55) in goose neck form which is bendable but retains its bent shape for enabling aiming of the distal end of the fiber optic bundle at a remote target.</p>
