A bearing comprises rolling bearing members 21, 22, Fig. 2, bearing on a pair of races, a cage 25 for the bearing members and one or more guide members 31 rolling on the races and having grooves 32 in which the cage fits so that the cage is located thereby during relative movement of the races. The cage has apertures 27, 28 to receive the rollers and slots 29 to engage the grooves 32 in the guide members which are formed by balls. The bearing supports a typewriter carriage slide 17 having a rack 37 in mesh with a pinion 35 on the cage. A fixed rack 36 also meshes with the pinion so that the cage moves at half the speed of the carriage.
