<p>1,024,991. Sheet-delivery apparatus; feeding webs. MASSON SCOTT & CO. Ltd. Feb. 14, 1963 [Feb. 22, 1962], No. 6979/62. Headings B6B and B6H. A web W is cut into sheets by rotary cutters 4, 5 the cut sheets being removed by endless band conveyers 6, 6<SP>1</SP>. A guide plate 15 is attached to a supporting arm 16 having an extension 16<SP>1</SP> held against an adjustable stop by a spring 18. When the sheets flow normally to the conveyers 6, 6<SP>1</SP>, the plate 15 is held by spring 18 against stop 19. When a jam in the flow of material occurs the plate 15 is depressed, thus causing extension 16<SP>1</SP> to actuate a switch 20 which energizes a solenoid 12<SP>1</SP> of a valve 12. The supply of air or hydraulic pressure is reversed upon energization of solenoid, thereby causing a piston and cylinder 9 to raise a feed roller 3 and so arrest the geed of web W. To facilitate clearing a jam the plate 15, arm 16 and conveyers 6, 6<SP>1</SP> can be tilted with plates 21 about a pivot 22 by a pneumatically or hydraulically actuated cylinder 23 into the Fig. 3 (not shown) position.</p> |
