1,038,076. Automatic voltage control. LICENTIA PATENT-VERWALTUNGS-G.m.b.H. May 29, 1963 [May 29,1962], No. 21460/63. Headings G3R and G3X. [Also in Division H2] The electric heating system of a dieselelectric or turbo-electric train is energized from the main generator of the locomotive over a voltage regulator which maintains constant the voltage applied to the system. As shown, a transformer 21 is connected to the generator terminals 20 and supplies a heating load, connected to terminals 25, over a rectifier bridge 30 constituted by controllable rectifiers producing a constant output voltage under the control of a regulator 31. For an A.C. output, two controlled rectifiers may be connected back-to-back between the transformer 21 and the output terminals 25 (Fig. 4 not shown). In another modification (Fig. 2 not shown) a switching device, connected between a rectifier and the output terminals 25, is controlled in dependence upon variations in the output voltage of the rectifier to maintain constant the voltage at the terminals. The transformer 21 may have an adjustable transformation ratio, and the voltage regulator may comprise a transductor. |
