The arrangement has switching diodes (62, 64) which connect or disconnect a shunt capacitor (66) across a tap (54) on the coil (52) of a VCO (70) serving as a local oscillator in a superhet receiver, to select a different tuning range. An evaluating circuit using a comparator (34) determines an appropriate switch state which is stored by a logic arrangement including a flip-flop (38), so that when the tuning voltage applied by a PLL is less than a threshold value the oscillator coil is padded by the shunt capacitor. An independent claim is also included for a method for switching between two switching states by a switching signal. |
