A hinging bellmouth (40) for an exhaust duct of an auxiliary power unit (APU) comprises a fixed nozzle portion (41), a motive nozzle portion (42) of substantially the same geometry, a revolute joint interface (43) comprising at least two hinge barrels (57) with their necessary support structure and hinge pin (70) , and a fastener interface (44). The revolute joint interface (43) allows the motive nozzle portion (42) to remain in contact with the fixed nozzle portion (41) during APU installation and removal. The fastener interface (44) allows the hinging bellmouth (40) to be maintained in a closed position during APU operation.
