<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an illuminator which can illuminate a closed curve in the form so as to make the whole closed curve illuminate uniformly. <P>SOLUTION: The illuminator comprises a linear side surface emitting type light transmission body having elasticity, a light source arranged at least on one end of the light transmitting body, a base material on which a fixing means is formed to fix the light transmitting body, and a light shield means. The illuminator is characterized in that the light transmitting body is so arranged that a part does not intersect but is in contact with another part to form a closed curve, the light transmitting body is so arranged that the side face on the center side of the closed curve is made contact with the side face of the outer peripheral side of the closed curve at the contact part, at which the curve closes on the closed curve, the fixing means of the substrate has a width in which the light transmitting bodies are arranged in parallel, at least at the contact part, and a part other than a desired light-emitting part is shielded by the light shield means at least at the contact part. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
