The method involves detecting a skin region (2) on an image and producing a mask (3) comprising the skin region. The red eye is detected in the skin region by detecting a red region corresponding to a pupil of the eye and a white zone corresponding to a white region of the eye. The red eye detection in the mask is made by comparing color pixels of the image with white colors and red colors stored in colorimetric tables. An independent claim is also included for a digital image printing device implementing an image`s red eye detecting method.
