PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform focusing control by deciding a subject at a high speed, especially, when the subject is a moving body although simple constitution is adopted. SOLUTION: An electronic imaging device includes a focusing control means of automatically adjusting the focus of a photographic lens 10 so that an evaluation value showing the contrast of an image signal of an imaging means becomes maximum, a detecting means of repeatedly detecting a moving subject image, a contrast decision means 20 of deciding the contrast of the subject image detected by the detecting means, and a control portion 2 which performs control so that a designated position where a focusing position is set in a photographic picture nearly matches the position of a subject image when the contrast evaluation value becomes maximum in each subject image whose contrast is decided by the contrast decision means.
