PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium maintaining adhesiveness or lubricity even under severe service conditions, sustaining lubricating effects over a long period, having excellent running stability and durability and exhibiting stable lubricating characteristics with time. SOLUTION: The magnetic recording medium is obtained as follows. At least a magnetic layer is formed on a non-magnetic support and a lubricant prepared by mixing any one kind of formula (1) R1COOCH<SB>2</SB>-Rf1-CH<SB>2</SB>OCOR1 (wherein, R1 denotes a fluorine-containing hydrocarbon group, a hydrocarbon group or a hydrogen; and Rf1 denotes a perfluoropolyether chain), formula (4) R2OCO-Rf2-CH<SB>2</SB>-COOR2 (wherein, R2 denotes a fluorine-containing hydrocarbon group, a hydrocarbon group or a hydrogen; and Rf2 denotes a perfluoropolyether chain), formula (5) Rf3COOH (wherein, Rf3 denotes a fluorine-containing hydrocarbon group or a hydrocarbon group), formula (6) (wherein, R1, R2, R3 and R4 denote each a fluorine-containing hydrocarbon group, a hydrocarbon group or a hydrogen; and Rf4 denotes a perfluoropolyether chain) and formula (7) (wherein, Rf5 denotes a perfluoropolyether chain), respectively with a compound represented by formula (2) äwherein, Rf denotes formula (3) (wherein, m is 2-20; and n is 4-18)} is held in the outermost layer.
