PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus of a simple constitution, with no occurrence of an image disturbance, achieving high glossiness in a high speed processing and varying the glossiness to various levels. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is provided with a fixing belt 12, a heating roller 14 warming the fixing belt 12, a pressurizing roller 18 forming a fixing nip part 20 by being brought into a pressurized contact with the fixing belt 12 and a preliminary heating means 24 carrying out preliminary heating of form P immediately before the paper is entered into the fixing nip part 20.
